Catering

Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art prides itself on being the only State Gallery in Australia to prepare and deliver restaurant and function catering in-house, focusing on locally sourced produce. Executive Chef, Josue (Josh) Lopez brings an invaluable wealth of international experience to Brisbane, including previously working at the world-renowned and Michelin starred Noma in Copenhagen, and receiving the 2010 recipient Food and Wine Guide Young Chef of the Year award. Josh’s methodology to food combines classical cuisine with a contemporary approach to ingredients and technique.

Technical FacilitiesThe Lecture Theatre is a purpose built venue complete with tiered tablet seating for up to 100 guests. The theatre is an ideal space for presentations, seminars and panel discussions. Cinema A offers a modern and stylish experience. The venue offers the ultimate in viewing comfort and tiered seating to accommodate up to 220 guests. This state-of-the-art cinema comes complete with multimedia facilities that will enhance any corporate event. Cinema B is a contemporary multi-functional cinema and event space. This cinema is equipped with a 13 meter wide projection screen and in-house audio and lighting equipment. The venue features a wood panelled interior and offers the ultimate in viewing comfort with tiered seating to accommodate up to 100 guests.

Recreation Facilities The Gallery aims to present a diverse range of exhibitions and collection displays of local, national and international artists across both buildings. In addition to presenting exclusive international blockbuster exhibitions, the Gallery has two flagship triennials. The ‘Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ is the only major series of exhibitions in the world to focus exclusively on the contemporary art of Asia and the Pacific. A more recent initiative of the Gallery is ‘Contemporary Australia’ which is a national triennial series of thematic contemporary Australian art. The Gallery also presents travelling exhibitions to regional and remote centres of the state to ensure that all Queenslanders have access to the Collection.

Venue Tours The Venue Hire Officer can organise for a Gallery staff member to give guests an overview of a particular exhibition or display. An exclusive tour may also be requested.
